Murray River Regions & Event Calendar
South Australia
South Australia's section of the beautiful Murray River contains plenty of water for you to enjoy a river holiday!
Whether you're into high-energy watersports like waterskiing or jet boating, or prefer more laidback choices like a leisurely houseboat holiday, or fishing, the wide expanses of the Murray River are the ideal holiday playground for you.
The Murray River is an Australian icon. More than a hundred years ago, paddle steamers used to venture up and down the length of the river, transporting agricultural produce from riverside townships.
While the age of the paddle steamer trade has gone, the river towns (and a few of the steamers themselves) remain and they'll offer you a warm welcome.
Some Murray River towns in South Australia include Renmark, Berri, Loxton, Barmera, Waikerie, Morgan, Blanchtown, Swan Reach, Mannum, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend and Goolwa. You'll find Marina's within and around these towns. Search for a houseboat using the search function.
Victoria / New South Wales
Victoria's incredible diversity and natural attractions will surprise even the most seasoned traveller. Its compact size puts so many rewarding experiences with easy reach, making it ideal for day trips or extended tours.
The mighty Murray River forms the border between New South Wales and Victoria before heading south to the ocean. Unwind and enjoy the region's renowned slow food, wine, golf courses and temperate climate. Hire a houseboat and explore sandy beaches, bushland and red gum forests.
The Murray River flows down from the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales into the Southern Ocean in South Australia, 2530 kilometres in length. Some river towns include Mildura, Balranald, Robinvale/Euston, Swan Hill, Echuca/Moama, Yarrawonga/Barooga, Corowa/Howlona, and Albury/Wodonga.
